You may be wondering if you need to include a floor plan in your advert.

Its not something you have to do, but we would recommend you include one as it helps potential purchasers to visualise your property.

Creating a floor plan is probably far easier than you think. You are not trying to create a work of art after all, but just a simple drawing to show potential purchasers what the layout of your property is.

In fact you almost certainly already have the only tools you need, right on your computer. The Microsoft Paint program (usually found under the program group "accessories") is all you need. Save the image to your computer hard disk, and then upload it to our web site in place of a photo.

The following plan was drawn by one of our staff in under ten minutes, and it was the first time he had attempted to do it. With a little more patience (and if he'd followed all of our tips below) it could have looked even better, but still we believe it is more than adequate:

Tips

1 Before drawing outside or internal walls set the line thickness to one of the thickest settings
2 Draw the outline of the house first using either the Rectangle or Line Tool
3 Draw internal walls using the Line Tool
4 Set the line thickness to its thinnest setting before drawing doors and windows
5 Erase the holes in the walls where the doors and windows will be, using the Eraser Tool
6 Use the "Magnifier Tool" to zoom in, before drawing doors and windows
7 Draw windows as a very narrow rectangle, using the Rectangle tool
8 Draw a door as a sloping straight line, using the Line Tool
9 Draw a series of lines, using the Line Tool, to represent stairs
10 Use the Text Tool to name the rooms
11 If you make a mistake use the "undo" option found on the "Edit" menu.
